The program is considered medium in size and is known for its social and supportive atmosphere as well as for encouraging teamwork and collaboration. The Kenan-Flagler School was the first program to use the idea of study groups, a main method in which most courses and projects are implemented. The program is consistently rated as one of the top twenty MBA programs in the US.

Different styles of teaching such as analysis of cases and theories in study groups and through practical learning are encouraged at the program. Most students are integrated in marketing and strategic projects with domestic and international companies. The students are also encouraged to actively participate in managing CDs, real estate funds, and venture capital funds. As a way to prepare for different managing situations, the program focuses on teaching strategies for team leading, leadership development, administrative couching and skills for speaking in front of an audience.

The University of North Carolina is located in Chapel Hill, a small yet lively college town with beautiful weather and a considerably low cost of living.

The school’s alumni include the following prominent individuals, with current or past positions in parentheses: Brent Callinicos (Vice President and Treasurer at Google), Dwight Smith (Vice President at Procter & Gamble), Jorge Goldsmit (President for Eat, Inc.), and Charles Sullivan (COO at ProLogis).

  • Work experience during college – “While we are aware that many international applicants work full time while attending university, we prefer that they also present a minimum of two years of work experience after completing the first degree. If have less than two years not likely to be competitive.”
  • The school launched new STEM-designated concentration in business analytics and management science in its full-time MBA program, which is designed to give international applicants hope that upon graduating from it, they may be eligible for a two-year extension on the initial one-year Optional Practice Training period for working in the U.S.
