If you’ve received a Round 1 MBA interview invite, congratulations! That’s a big step forward. If you are still waiting, don’t worry. Many programs are continuing to send out invitations over the next few weeks.

No matter who your interviewer is, an admissions committee member, a current student, or an alumnus, your goal is to communicate your story clearly, confidently, and authentically.

1. Be ready to walk through your story.
Interviewers often start with, “Tell me about yourself,” or “Walk me through your resume.” Keep it clear and conversational. Highlight how your responsibilities have grown, why you made certain career moves, and what motivated those changes. The goal is to show direction and purpose, and not just list achievements.

2. Show your personality.
Remember, interviews aren’t just about your credentials. They’re about you. Interviewers want to see curiosity, warmth, and authenticity. Be professional, but don’t be afraid to smile and show enthusiasm.

3. Know the program inside out.
Specifics matter. Mention classes, professors, and student clubs that truly interest you. Doing your homework shows you’ve thought carefully about how this school fits you.

4. Have a few good questions ready.
Almost every interview ends with, “Do you have any questions for me?” Avoid ones you could easily Google. Instead, ask about your interviewer’s experience or how they’d describe the culture of the program. It’s a great way to make a personal connection.

5. Practice out loud.
Even confident speakers get nervous in interviews. Rehearsing your answers with an expert can help you sound natural and structured, not rehearsed.

If you’d like some guidance or a mock interview to help you prepare, our team would be happy to work with you.
