Wharton School did really well this year and got the top spot in the 2024 Financial Times MBA ranking after not doing so great last year. But the surprising part is that Harvard Business School dropped to 11th place, going down seven spots, and Stanford Graduate School of Business fell to 23rd place, going down a huge 19 spots. This is the worst ranking for both schools in the 26 years of this ranking. Even though the quality of these schools and their MBA programs hasn’t changed much, they’re not on top anymore in this ranking.

INSEAD secured the 2nd position, while the 3rd spot is jointly held by Columbia Business School and SDA Bocconi School of Management. Following closely is IESE, ranking 5th, succeeded by Kellogg School of Management. A noteworthy development is MIT Sloan’s significant leap from the 11th position last year to the 6th position in 2024. London Business School, Cornell University, and Chicago Booth have all successfully secured places within the top 10.

Highlighting substantial improvements, Tepper School of Business moved from 49th to 33rd, ESADE Business School progressed from 30th to 17th, and the Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad rose from 62nd to 41st. However, there were notable declines, such as Stanford Graduate School of Business falling from 4th to 23rd, Berkeley Haas from 7th to 19th, and Kenan-Flagler from 38th to 48th. Additionally, it’s worth noting that 12 schools, including Michigan Ross, Warrington, Owen, and Katz, did not make it to the latest ranking.
